Launched in April 2023, the UR website offers the public a carefully curated selection of content of high philosophical and spiritual value to foster discernment regarding Ultimate Reality\u2014unchanging, infinite, and unique\u2014the source of all existence: both the universe and the human beings, and regarding the human journey through this fleeting earthly life.<\/p>

The primary source of reference is the work of the 20th-century English writer and philosopher Paul Brunton (PB), particularly the writings from the final stage of his life, published posthumously in 16 volumes under the title The Notebooks of Paul Brunton<\/em>, which he himself referred to as his \u201cmost mature\u201d work.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Although UR is based mainly on the work of Paul Brunton, it also incorporates texts and quotes from other authors who, even from different perspectives or with certain philosophical disagreements regarding PB, offer valuable and convergent insights into the knowledge of Everlasting Universal Life<\/strong>.<\/p>

For this reason, this site welcomes all texts that contribute significantly to the understanding of Ultimate Reality, regardless of their source or tradition of origin.<\/p>

As Paul Brunton points out:<\/p>

\u201cThese truths belong to every mortal even though their discovery has remained in a select and enquiring group. They belong to no particular people, no special time. They are as ageless as they are universal.\u201d<\/em> <\/i><\/span><\/p>

The choice of Brunton as a conceptual framework responds to the need to unify criteria and offer a solid foundation for discernment. His writings represent\u2014in our view\u2014the most comprehensive, impartial, inspiring, and transcendent contemporary philosophical work we have encountered to date, especially within the realm of modern Western thought.<\/p>

To this are added two exceptional qualities: his vast erudition and his remarkable literary talent. UR seeks to highlight, revitalize\u2014when necessary\u2014and analyze ancient and contemporary teachings from philosophers, thinkers, teachers, and spiritual guides that point toward a higher dimension of existence:<\/p>

  • An Ultimate Reality of the universe\u2014which PB calls Mind, or Mind-in-Itself, and in its active function, World-Mind (God)\u2015in contrast to the transitory nature of the phenomenal manifestation unfolding in space-time.<\/li>
  • And an Ultimate Reality of the human being\u2014their Higher Self (Overself), as an emanation of the World-Mind\u2014in contrast to the ephemeral nature of the physical self and the personal ego.<\/li><\/ul>

    In Brunton\u2019s own words:<\/p>

    \u201cThere is but ONE Reality and various forms under which it appears. Therefore, the man who perceives this naturally, perceives the Ultimate Reality everywhere. He does not need to meditate or to go into a trance to find it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    To this can be added what Ramana expressed:<\/p>

    \u201cBe as you are. Do not meditate, be! Do not think that you are, be! Don\u2019t think about being, you are!\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    Seeking, finding, and finally merging with the Overself\u2014our permanent, essential, and absolute inner reality\u2014constitutes the highest purpose of human life and the only path to true happiness: unlimited, serene, and grounded in a deep and unshakable inner peace. From that Overself\u2014the divine Soul, our authentic timeless Self\u2014springs the Impersonal Love<\/strong> that makes such fulfillment possible.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Nobody listens to the prophets who tell this, or listens with more than his ears, until time teaches him its truth. Then only do his heart and will begin to apply it.\u201d

    The site features everything from short articles to more extensive and in-depth studies. All of them seek to offer genuine Universal Knowledge that invites reflection on the meaning of life and on our current stage of evolution, which is still conditioned by selfishness. A knowledge that also addresses the essential concerns of human beings in the face of the reality of the world: its instability, its conflicts, suffering, inequalities, and the tragedies and atrocities that run through both history and our contemporary era.<\/p>

    In essence, this knowledge points to the true origin of the inevitable sufferings to which humanity is subject: the infallible universal law of cause and effect\u2014the law of Karma\u2014which acts as a silent instruction of the eternal law of Evolution through our successive lives on Earth.<\/p>

    Paul Brunton writes:<\/p>

    \u201cIs one of the oldest ideas to be found in human culture, this idea that man’s life is subject to a higher power, that he is personally responsible to a higher law for his actions and that he cannot escape its retribution for wrong-doing or its reward for righteousness. The Stoics of ancient Rome had this idea and called it Fate. The Platonists of ancient Greece had it and called it Destiny. And the Indians, mostly Buddhists and Hindus, had it and have it and call it Karma.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    \u201cAn ethically blinded world may not perceive the actuality and factuality of karma. There is no other God pulling historic strings than the karmic laws of retribution and re-adjustment. The sufferings it brings to peoples are really the reactions of their own near or remote deeds. They are visited by the consequences of their own making. Karma works in its own time to set straight all crooked things, not in ours. Nevertheless we can sometimes see it move quickly enough to teach a vivid lesson both to those who suffer its consequences and those who observe that suffering.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    \u201cKarma expresses itself through events which may seem to be accidents. But they are so only on the surface.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    \u201cNobody succeeds in extinguishing karma merely because he intellectually denies its existence. He may deceive himself or others, but he cannot deceive the power of karma. Before it, he must stand responsible for his acts and receive their due effects. There is no other way he can go.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    \u201cThe mystery of evil is perhaps the profoundest of all but it cannot be understood through surface views. Evil is closely connected with suffering and the latter in its turn with karma, which again is itself an expression of the fundamental self. It is all an educative process from which nobody can escape\u2014not even Satan himself were there such a personal devil, which philosophy does not admit, although there are evil spirits, evil beings, and evil men. All will be saved because when seen from the timeless viewpoint they are already saved.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    \u201cWe are all really on trial. Life itself is our judge with the working of karma, the ignorance or wisdom of our fellows, the voice of our conscience, and the capacities or incapacities of our personality.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    \u201cEach of us lives at a certain time in history and occupies a certain place (or certain places) during that period. Why now and here? Look to the law of consequences for an answer, the law which connects one earthly lifetime with earlier ones.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    \u201cWe must use our combined reason and intuition,\u00a0that is, intelligence, to discern\u00a0the handiwork of karma in the pattern of some of the external events of our own life.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

    In short, UR seeks to offer a comprehensive perspective that helps us understand the meaning of our destiny<\/strong> and that also serves as a practical guide for facing, with equanimity, understanding, and humility, the many challenges that daily life presents\u2014or, more profoundly, poses\u2014to us in all its spheres, dimensions, and consequences.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
